Submissions are now open to the AEU’s national inquiry into public school capital infrastructure.
The Schools For Our Future inquiry, chaired by Sharan Burrow AC, is examining the adequacy, condition and future readiness of public school facilities, and the extent to which current capital investment meets the needs of growing student populations, modern curriculum requirements and safe learning and working environments.
The inquiry is seeking submissions from students, teachers, principals, support staff, parents and family members, governments, organisations and individuals with an interest in education and the future of public schools.
Submissions can be made as an individual or on behalf of an organisation, a school or a group of union members working together in a school.
The process involves simply answering to a series of online questions about Australia’s public school infrastructure needs.
Alternatively, you can upload a submission as a document, pdf, an audio file or video. Supporting evidence such as photos can also be submitted.
“We want to hear from as many people as possible to fully understand the needs of teachers, students, funding and what is required for the future for our public school buildings and facilities,” the AEU's Corenna Haythorpe said.
“We have tried to make it as easy as possible to make a submission, whether it’s answering our survey-style questions online, sending a written submission or even a video, we want to hear from you about Australia’s public school infrastructure needs.
“This is your chance to tell us what works, what needs addressing, and how we can have a modern, safe, and fully equipped public school system, now and for the future.”
Submissions will remain open until June 30th, 2026 and can be made via the website: https://www.schoolsforourfuture.org.au/make-a-submission
