Top notch leadership skills will be fostered

The three winners of the 2020 Principals Scholarships will travel to the Harvard Graduate School of Education to undertake a professional education program designed to strengthen their leadership skills.

Two NSW public school principals from regional NSW were recognised by the award, this year’s Principals Scholars are:

  • Teachers Mutual Bank Principals Scholarship: Tracey Breese, Kurri Kurri High School (NSW)
  • Harvard Club of Australia Principals Scholarship Recipient: Michael Hornby, Mabel Park State High School (QLD)
  • Public Education Foundation Principals Scholarship Recipient: Paula Hambly, Batemans Bay High School (NSW)

Each scholarship is valued at approximately $16,000 and includes program tuition for one of two prestigious Harvard Graduate School of Education programs:

  • Improving Schools: The Art of Leadership; or
  • Leadership: An Evolving Vision

The Harvard Club of Australia Education Scholarships were established by the Public Education Foundation in 2013 and run with the help of Teachers Mutual Bank and the Harvard Club of Australia.

“These public school principals are exceptional leaders who not only support and inspire students and staff in their schools, but champion educational excellence in the broader community. They demonstrate a strong capacity for leadership into the future,” David Hetherington, Executive Director of the Public Education Foundation, said.
