Australian schools have a few days left to enter a national mural competition helping students transform sustainability lessons into colourful artwork.

Paint Australia Beautiful, run by Keep Australia Beautiful in partnership with Dulux, is calling on students from early learning through to Year 9 to create nature-inspired murals focused on waste reduction and biodiversity.

The free competition gives schools an easy, hands-on way to bring sustainability into the classroom, with students able to enter as individuals by submitting their mural design and a short Eco-Vision statement explaining how their artwork connects to their local environment.

Winning schools in every state and territory will receive Dulux paint to turn their designs into real-life murals, creating lasting sustainability reminders within their school communities.

Last year’s winner, Bexley Public School in Sydney, received more than 2,100 public votes for its mural Our Living Country, which explored biodiversity and Aboriginal culture.

With entries closing soon, schools can still take part in a creative activity without needing to develop a new classroom program from scratch.

Entries close 24 July for schools needing additional time.
