Environment lessons by teens for teens

YouTube hit Stay Tuned To Our Planet (STTOP) is coming to schools, with a new Australian curriculum-mapped education program featuring 64+ dynamic, interactive lessons and activities, adapted from the award-winning STTOP online series.

More than 70% of teachers use YouTube in their classroom and STTOP's sustainability lessons get through to next gens.

Through STTOP, eco-warriors like Zoe Iron, Dan lIic, Beau Miles and Sophia Skarparis deliver simple and practical tips for teens as part of fast-paced lessons, classroom activities and at home challenges.

Youth mental health service, headspace reports that climate concerns are among the top 5 issues worrying Aussie teens today. In addition to developing the program, STTOP has partnered with Orygen Institute, Psychology for a Safe Climate and headspace to develop a practical Teacher Support Resource that gives teachers the confidence to support students exhibiting climate stress.

The new classroom-ready program is now available free of charge to all Australian schools. Built around STTOP’s popular YouTube series - which recently received a Silver at The Telly Awards in the US - the program is designed to support teachers with ready-to-use lesson plans, worksheets, and practical in-classroom and home-extension activities.

Tested by pilot schools in NSW and WA earlier this year, the series won positive feedback from over 150 students and teachers as lessons are delivered in in a uniquely Australian blend of entertainment and education.

All resources were reviewed for sensitivities for CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) and First Nations students and teachers and will be also used in the Orygen Institute NHMRC granted prime platform supporting interventions for climate mental health among young people.

Lizzy Nash, STTOP Creator says, "We heard loud and clear from teachers that students need relatable, Australian-made sustainability resources, not more doom and gloom. STTOP proves that small actions, done together, can create big change."

The STTOP education program is available FREE online from 5 June - UN World Environment Day at sttop2030.com/education
