Guide Dogs NSW/ACT’s speakers, accompanied by their guide dogs, share stories about their lives with hundreds of school children throughout metropolitan Sydney, Newcastle, Orange and the ACT each year.

They educate the children in a way that is both interactive and informative, about vision impairment, what it’s like to be blind or vision impaired, and the ‘ins and outs’ of how to behave around a guide dog.
Together, they also explore mobility aids other than guide dogs such as white canes and electronic aids, other services offered by Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, and the history of the association.

Speakers tailor their talks to specific curriculum needs and interests, and every session is complemented with a selection of Guide Dog materials to enhance the learning experience.

Guide Dogs NSW/ACT offers these information sessions free of charge to primary and secondary schools, after school care and vacation facilities throughout the year.
