Police are investigating a suspicious fire at one of Queensland's oldest schools, in Dalby (west of Brisbane).

At around 12.30am on 25 April, emergency services were alerted to reports of flames coming from the front of the building on Cunningham Street.

Queensland Police released a statement saying no one was physically injured as a result of the fire, however the school was extensively damaged.

Preliminary investigations by Police indicate the fire was deliberately lit.

The school leadership team released a statement stating: "The damage caused is quite extensive and at this stage we know that the fire destroyed our school's administration facilities, music and staff rooms, two classrooms, as well as a specialist music room. The maintenance and reconnection of essential services such as power and water is also being attended to as a priority."
